Boeing delivered a 777-300ER (Extended Range) to Garuda Indonesia on October 28, 2015 in a special SkyTeam livery. The 777-300ER continues to play an important role in Garuda’s network expansion strategy. “We continue to grow our network with the SkyTeam alliance and the 777-300ER’s efficiency and economics allow us to stay competitive and with an interior that our passengers love.
National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia unveiled its latest livery design on Monday.
Featuring a batik tambal motif from Yogyakarta, the livery, made to look like a mask, adorns a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft.
The design was created by Johana Angelia Christian, the winner of the fourth phase of the Fly Your Design Through the Sky competition.
Using Bersama Membangun Masa Depan Bangsa (Developing the Nation’s Future Together) as the theme, the design seeks to express hope that Indonesia will recover quickly from the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the same time, the pattern illustrates Indonesia’s cultural diversity.
Garuda Indonesia president-director Irfan Setiaputra wrote that the batik tambal design would be the last mask livery and that the airline had officially closed the competition.
He thanked the public for the enthusiasm and encouraged people to take part in the government’s mask-wearing campaign.

The flag carrier unveiled its first “masked” aircraft in October to support the government’s health protocol campaign.
“As the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia has always been committed to supporting the government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. One way we do that is by encouraging people to wear masks,” said Irfan.
Irfan said the company had received hundreds of submissions during the competition.
Prior to the batik tambal design, the flag carrier launched three other mask livery designs, namely Indonesia Pride, Fly High and Stay Protected and Sekar Jagat Nusantara.
The airline also teamed up with other institutions, namely Tomy Winata’s charitable foundation Artha Graha Peduli, logistics company Pigeon Express Cargo and state-owned energy giant Pertamina, to hold the competition.

Garuda Indonesia has made various efforts to increase awareness about the government’s 3M health protocols: mask-wearing, hand-washing and social distancing.
Last month, the airline announced a collaboration with health brand Carex to distribute 100,000 personal health kits to passengers between Nov. 11 and Dec. 15.
Dubbed CarexGAuntukIndonesia, the health kit consists of personal hygiene items, including hand sanitizer and a face mask.
The personal health kits are being distributed on domestic flights departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, to six cities in Indonesia, namely Surakarta and Semarang in Central Java, Yogyakarta, Surabaya in East Java, Denpasar in Bali, and Medan in North Sumatra.
Garuda Indonesia service, business development and information technology director Ade R. Susardi said the collaboration was in line with the airline’s efforts and commitments to provide health and safety services to passengers by consistently complying with health protocols in all lines of operation.
