Pat Sajak had a playful meltdown on a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune.
The hilarious moment came during the November 25th episode of the long-running game show when contestant Darin McBain challenged the acclaimed host on one of the puzzle answers. Darin, whose mother was a three-day champion on the show back in 1982, was tasked with solving a puzzle for things beginning with the word 'kitchen.' Though he correctly guessed 'cabinet,' 'towels,' 'oven,' and 'sink,' Darin took issue with 'kitchen oven' being up on the board.
'Kitchen oven?' Darin asked Pat. 'What was that? Who calls it a 'kitchen oven?'
In response, Pat light-heartedly yelled back, 'Don't! You won! Don't argue, Darin! ... You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players! I've had it!”
Then Pat follows it up at the end apologized for yelling 😂 pic.twitter.com/sEhwjt2mcc
— Peter Bojarinov (@russian98) November 26, 2020Though it appeared Pat was just joking with the contestant, he did later say that he had 'finally snapped.' As for those who saw the exchange, some thought Pat nearly 'lost it' on the contestant. The majority, however, seemed to believe Pat was simply teasing Darin. 'Pat was trying to be funny! He wasn’t ‘mean’ or condescending. I watch this every weeknight ...' one fan tweeted. Another remarked, 'Pat likes to joke around. I saw no harm.'
At the end of the game, Darin wound up getting second place. Apparently, Pat felt it was necessary to make amends with the contestant before the episode concluded.
'I'm sorry I yelled at you,' Pat told Darin. 'It’s just, I don't remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.'
And just like that, everything was all fine and dandy again.
